Oyam Police Arrest Man Accused of Killing Aunt Over Rape Allegations

Oyam, Uganda | Police in Oyam District are holding a 23-year-old man accused of murdering his aunt following a domestic dispute in Anamocamobago Village, Agulurude Parish, Loro Sub–county.

The incident occurred on the night of December 10, 2025, at around 8pm and was reported the following morning by the area LC1 chairperson, Mr. Francis Abongo.

According to preliminary police findings, the deceased, Ms. Aceng Lucy, 47, a peasant farmer, was allegedly attacked by her nephew, Mr. Ejura Dickens, with whom she shared a homestead.

The suspect reportedly accused Ms. Aceng of spreading information in the community that he had raped his cousin.

Police say that after the family members had retired to their houses, Mr. Ejura allegedly woke up Ms. Abodo Siliberia — the deceased’s mother — and told her that he had “prepared a house where Aceng would stay forever” before fleeing the scene.

Ms. Abodo rushed to her daughter’s house and found her lying dead in the doorway with fresh head injuries.

She sounded an alarm that drew neighbours, who quickly alerted the LC1 chairperson. Mr. Abongo later filed a report at Loro Town Council Police Station.

A team of Scene of Crime Officers and homicide detectives from Oyam Central Police Station visited the scene and recovered a wooden log believed to have been used in the attack.

Statements were recorded from key witnesses as part of ongoing inquiries.

Police later traced and arrested the suspect, who is now in custody pending further interrogation.

The body of Ms. Aceng was taken to Anyeke Health Centre IV for postmortem examination.

North Kyoga Region Police spokesperson, SP Patrick Jimmy Okema, said investigations are still underway and updates will be issued once available.
