Dokolo, Uganda | Police in Dokolo District have credited a sniffer dog with aiding the arrest of more than 30 suspects linked to various crimes across the district.
Between January and August 2025, the canine unit at Dokolo Central Police Station tracked and helped apprehend 30 male suspects, according to Cpl. Alex Odeke, an officer in charge of the unit.
The cases range from theft and murder to arson and other criminal activities reported in different parts of the district.
Cpl. Odeke said the sniffer dog has eased investigative work by helping law enforcement identify and arrest suspects more efficiently.
He, however, urged residents to always preserve scenes of crime, warning that tampering with evidence can frustrate investigations.
Police have also announced that on Friday, September 12, 2025, a public demonstration will be held at Dokolo Central Police Station to showcase how the sniffer dog operates.
